Faces of Afterschool: A Self-Portrait Project

Faces of Afterschool
is a statewide afterschool art project in which the many faces of afterschool come alive in artistic self-portraits!  Children and youth participating in summer programs throughout Arizona have the opportunity to create self-portraits using any 2-dimensional medium.  Many of the Faces of Afterschool self-portraits will be on display in an art exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix during October & November, in conjunction with Lights On Afterschool.

Goals for the Project:

*       Children and youth develop their skills in a particular artistic medium and express their individuality and identity through their self-portrait

*       Increase the visibility of afterschool programs in the statewide community

Guidelines:

*       Children & youth create a self portrait using any 2-dimensional medium

Paint, collage, pastels, digital art… the opportunities are endless!

*       Self-portraits must be 8½” x 11” – any type of paper, the thicker the better!

*       Children & youth ages 5-17 participating in summer programs in Arizona are eligible to participate
