Rio Salado Collegeis actively seeking qualified applicants for itsNational Science Foundation Noyce Scholars Program. Applicants must a U.S. citizen, an Arizona resident, have a minimum of three years experience in a STEM related field, a bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, or mathematics discipline, and commit to teach for two years in a high-need school. Selected participants will receive a stipend of $16,500 to complete a comprehensive 12-month teacher certification program with online course instruction and onsite teaching experiences.
Youth Activist Awards
Deadline: June 30, 2012
The Mario Sivio Youth Activist Award, which carries a cash prize of $6,000, is presented each year to a young person with a deep commitment to human rights and social justice and a proven ability to transform this commitment into effective action. The recipients must have demonstrated leadership ability, creativity and integrity. The cash award is divided equally between the individual recipient and an organization of his/her choosing.

The Green Thumb Challenge
Deadline: September 30, 2012 (for grant)
The Green Thumb Challenge seeks to encourage children to pursue gardening and the foundation offers free activities and standards-based lessons. All resources are free to registered members. Three campaigns within the challenge are Adopt a Plant, Plant with A Purpose and Volunteer.
The foundation also is offering a Green Thumb Challenge Grant, which will recognize a school or youth group's garden project with a $5,000 prize.
